When AI spend on a file approaches $50, the firm owner gets a banner + email. AI keeps working — you decide whether to keep going. Configurable per case or as a firm-wide default.

AI pauses on this file at $100 until the owner raises the cap. No surprise overruns, no "I can't believe one case cost $400" story.

Optional firm-wide monthly cap

Set a monthly ceiling for the whole firm. Hit 80%? Email alert. Hit 100%? AI pauses across all cases until next month or until you raise it.

How much does each AI use cost?
It depends on the work. A quick chat answer with the AI is pennies. A thorough audit on a heavy file is a bit more. Every charge is itemized in Settings → Billing & Credits, so you always see what you're paying for and why.
What about months I don't file any cases?
You pay $0. There's no subscription, no per-seat fee, no minimum. Slow quarter, parental leave, busy with non-immigration work — the bill is zero.
What if I open a case and never finish it?
The $3 case-opening fee covers everything that came with opening the file — the workspace, the team access, the eSign capacity, the client portal invite. It's non-refundable, like a deposit. AI charges only happen when you actually use AI features, so unused cases stop at $3.
What if a single case gets expensive?
By default, AI on any one case stops at $100 (with a heads-up at $50). The firm owner can raise the cap or move on. The optional firm-wide monthly cap adds a second safety net. You're in control.
How do top-ups work?
Add credits via Stripe — any amount from $20 to $1,000 in one go. Credits never expire. Owners refill from Settings → Billing & Credits. Receipts are emailed automatically.
Are unused credits refundable?
Yes. Email [email protected] with your firm name and the amount you'd like back; we return it to your original Stripe payment method. AI charges that have already completed are non-refundable — the work was performed.
How do I get started?
Migrawise is currently invitation-only — we're rolling out one firm at a time so we can hand-onboard you, migrate your data, and tune the AI to your firm's voice. Request access via the form below; we reply within 48 hours.
Can I export my data and leave?
Yes. Export everything in CSV / native formats from Settings. No exit fees. Your data is yours.
